Independent, non-commissioned strategic study. Pilot proposal developed on an existing industrial platform: it shows how under-utilised production and digital assets can be activated into multiple revenue engines without new capacity investment. Projections are modelled scenarios, not measured results.
Pilot proposal · Stabilimento Tipografico De Rose · Phase 0
The question is not whether the factory can produce more. It is which market to open first.
Stabilimento De Rose already has a high-volume plant with spare capacity, a sellable online catalogue and an institutional and industrial network built since 1963. The proposal uses those assets to open eight vertical channels, each with its own brand and price, all served by the same production backend.
The perimeter of the opportunity
€2.8–4.7M
Model output
Incremental revenue at run-rate (year 3-4), weighted central estimate
€165–275k
Model output
Initial investment in the prudent scenario
≈ 0
Assumption
Production capex: machines, catalogue and configurator already exist
8
Assumption
Vertical markets activatable on the same production backend
The work behind it
Fourteen deliverables across analysis, numbers and execution tools, plus nine navigable prototypes with the rationale behind every interface decision.
The picture
Almost every asset the eight markets require already exists: offset, rotary and digital presses, finishing and premium papers, a working quotation configurator, 48-hour delivery and a network of long-standing institutional clients. That is what makes the project feasible at marginal cost, with no machinery purchase and no rewrite of production software.
Since 1963
Industrial heritage and capacity of roughly 4.5 million copies a month
50,000 c/h
Roto-offset capacity: volume is an asset here, not a constraint
Institutional
Long-standing clients: state printer, ministries, INPS, Poste, ENI, Region
48 hours
Configurator and fast delivery: the costliest lever already exists
The thesis
The team runs every order from a single panel; the market sees eight distinct branded interfaces, each focused on a different target. The same sheet, printed on the same press, is sold at different prices and margins depending on the customer. It is the project's most powerful margin lever, and the model is already validated elsewhere in the industry.
Pricing
Price discrimination by vertical, not generalised discounting
Saturation
Recurring flows fill the idle time between public contracts
Sequence
The constraint is management attention: one market opens at a time
BitPrint
The digital spin-off stays as it is: only the front-end is redone
The library
Each document closes one question and opens the next: the sequence is the argument.
Executive Blueprint
The board synthesis: thesis, capital already in the company, model, eight initiatives, numbers, roadmap and recommendation.
PDF · 12 pp
Market & Opportunity Report
Per-vertical analysis: sizing, trends, competition, barriers, accessibility and a priority quadrant.
PDF · 7 pp
Data Room & Sources
Every figure with its source and verification status: verified, or to be confirmed in Phase 1.
Financial Model v2
Bottom-up from the funnels: base and conservative scenarios, three-year cash flow, sensitivity and required resources.
Excel
The eight vertical initiatives
HoReCa, healthcare, luxury publishing, rotary and publishing, trade printer, elections, Made in Calabria, transactional.
Initiative sheets
Prototypes & UX rationales
Nine navigable sites, one per brand, each with the document explaining its interface decisions.
9 prototypes + 9 PDFs
BitPrint · front-end restyling
The digital spin-off already running: the interface is redone, not the backend that generates revenue today.
Dedicated hub
Activation sequence & risks
The order in which markets open, the risk register and the points where the project can disperse.
Sequencing plan
The prepared decision
Approve the opening of one vertical, chosen for convenience, with the initial investment held to the prudent scenario and no commitment on the other seven until the first is at run-rate.
The project does not ask for production capacity: that already exists. It asks for management attention, which is the genuinely scarce resource. That is why the sequence matters more than the portfolio.
Gate 0 · real capacity
How many machine hours are genuinely free?
Internal verification of unused capacity and true hourly cost, to confirm the foundation of the whole model.
STOP if spare capacity cannot carry the first vertical's volume.
Gate 1 · first market
The priority vertical converts
One storefront opened, with real conversion, average price and acquisition cost measured.
STOP if margin per order stays below the threshold declared in the model.
Gate 2 · repetition
The customer reorders
Reorder measured at 90 days on recurring flows, separating new customers from existing accounts.
STOP if revenue depends on one-off contracts.
Gate 3 · replication
The second vertical
The second brand opens only once the first is stable and the shared backend is proven.
GO only if the first vertical runs without absorbing management.
The downside
Three risks concern the organisation, not the factory.
01
Execution dispersion
Eight fronts with ten or eleven people means no front is genuinely covered. Containment: a strict sequence, one vertical at a time, with explicit criteria for opening the next.
02
Consumer acquisition cost
The HoReCa front can burn margin on acquisition if it scales before proving return. Containment: scale only with cost per order measured and below threshold.
03
Dependence on a declining generic segment
Continuous forms are in structural decline with electronic invoicing. Containment: use them as transitional cash, never as a long-term pillar.
Method & provenance
Every market figure is verified against public 2024-2025 sources and reported with its source; estimates are declared as such.
End-to-end path
From the existing plant to a pilot that verifies demand before any investment.
The decision made
Frame growth as a demand problem, not a capacity one: the machines are already there.
What was delivered
Turning point
Recognising idle capacity as an asset brought the proposal's capex to zero.
Open risk
Idle capacity can disappear if the core business rebounds.
The hand-off hub contains the fourteen deliverables, the nine navigable prototypes and the financial model, exactly as they would be delivered.
